Classes & Sessions

Brewing: Foundation Level Course: Designed to introduce the novice into the core skills and equipment required to produce great brewed coffee. Course delivery, detailing the information required to attempt the qualification, is expected to last a minimum of six hours instruction/practical time, excluding written exam time. No prior knowledge is needed before taking this module, although it is recommended that you take the "Introduction to Coffee" module. A passion for great coffee is essential!

Lecture Series: The CTG Summit Lecture Series will focus on the following topics: Water, Burr Grinder and Multi Meter.

Multi-meters: Their functions, applications and why they are your best friend in the tool bag.

Speaker:  Amir Hashemi, Director of Corporate Training at Wilbur Curtis Co. Inc.

Description:  A detailed look at what multi-meters do, the difference in their design and function, and how to apply them in your day to day diagnosis of coffee equipment.  Discussion will include a in-depth look at both ohms and watts law, and  how these two concepts will help you to use your multi-meter as the exceptional electrical diagnosis tool that it is.

The Good, Bad and Ugly of Water Treatment

Speaker: David Beeman

Description: Water impacts a coffee technicians world dramatically- learn about water quality, water pressure vs. flow, and common issues related to water and equipment. Technicians will have an opportunity to taste coffee with different waters, learn how to test equipment for water issues and even learn which questions to ask before a site visit. Demonstrations of common water testing equipment will be included.

Take an in depth look at water technology. Review water filtration technologies for the highest quality brewing water. Review the water filtration system installation, set up and operation. Attendees will also have a chance to ask an expert!

Explore cases studies from a live panel of business owners and their experiences and advice for technicians in business, thinking about a business or looking to get hired by one in the future.
