Tammy Baiz

Tammy has worked in the Specialty Coffee Industry for 16 years, as both an espresso bar owner-operator and service company owner. She is a co-owner and operations manager of Solutions Espresso Services in San Diego, CA.

Ellie Bradley

Ellie is the editor of Fresh Cup Magazine. She began her coffee journey as a barista, working her way through graduate school where she channeled her love of science and grammar into a technical writing degree. Ellie's part-time gig slinging espresso evolved into an exploration of the industry at large; she joined the Fresh Cup team in early 2016, where she works diligently to facilitate learning through compelling content, building readers' understanding of topics across the supply chain.

 

Amir Hashemi

Amir started at Wilbur Curtis Company in 1990 as an Engineering manager and project engineering. He manages the planning and development for the electric commercial coffee maker. Projects involve development of conceptual design engineering, fabrication of parts for prototype models, and testing checking and approving drawings of design and parts, as well as collaborating with the manufacturing department for production of parts and assembly of appliances.
 
He is currently the Director of Corporate Technical Training & Support for Wilbur Curtis. This includes developing technical training classes for commercial coffee industrial. Responsible for all trade shows, supporting Sales and Marketing team. Responsible for all claim for Curtis products and technical training globally. His previous experience includes project engineering for Wolf Range. Responsible for identifying and implementing changes in gas/electric appliances to reduces manufacturing costs and produce quality and evaluate utilization of new electrical components for functions improvement and to simplify assembly. He is a member of American Society of Gas Engineers and holds a Certificate of Engineer in Training (ELT).

 

Rich Leeson

Rich started at BUNN in 1987 as the Production Manager for the paper Coffee Filter facility in So Cal. He then moved into Service as the Service Manager for the Western US. He traveled throughout the territory and also Internationally training service techs and customers on the BUNN equipment line. During this time, he was also involved with supporting the startup of the BEST program at El Camino College.
 
After 10 years as a Service Manager, Rich migrated into Sales for BUNN and managed the So Cal and Las Vegas markets, where his equipment knowledge provided him with success as a District Sales Manager. In the last 4 years, his roll has change again and he is now the Zone Technical Sales Manager for the Western US. In this role, Rich supports the Sales team and customers with in depth equipment knowledge so that they can achieve their business and beverage goals.
 
Rich lives in Corona CA. and when he is not working, he enjoys his wife Robin, kids and grandkids. Hobbies include a 1967 Mustang, Harleys, and RV. With great passion, he enjoys helping others in the coffee community and is am excited to be part of the SCA and CTG.

 

Rebecca McNelly

Rebecca fell in love with coffee working at a small cafe at a very young age. My first wholesale job in the coffee industry in 2006 was at Corsair Coffee, a coffee roastery in Wichita, KS. I built the foundation of my coffee knowledge there; I learned to roast and cup, how to source green coffee, and how to fix specialty coffee equipment. I spent several years pursuing some of my coffee passions including consulting and opening several very successful cafes. In 2013, I opened my own roaster-retail Reverie Coffee Roasters. All the while, I was fixing espresso machines on the side. A little over four years ago in May of 2014 I started Heartland Tech a company solely focused on specialty coffee equipment and repair. My background and relationships in the coffee industry coupled with my hunger to bring innovation and technology into this dusty, old, paper driven world of coffee repair has taken me far. My company started off serving a local 20 mile radius of the 380,000 populous that is Wichita Kansas and now we service a four state region. A concept that has helped us immensely is that simply "certified" does not mean qualified, being successful in this line of work takes experience, commitment, and tons of cash invested in continually educating your staff. That being said this industry is starved for qualified professionals, we find that quality work and customer service easily opens the doors for success.

Tooti Roe

Tooti started her specialty coffee journey in 1998 attending “coffee club” gatherings hosted by The Roasterie in Kansas City. By the year 2000 she was working for that same company as the owner’s personal assistant. Fast forward to 2003, Tooti and her husband, Marty, saw a need in the growing midwest market for a service company dedicated to the coffee scene. Together they opened “Service Call”. Marty did the installs and repairs while Tooti did everything from answer the phone, order the parts to keeping the books in line. Today Service Call has 5 additional technicians. (and two office shelties always by her side) Tooti and Marty have also opened a specialty coffee “pro shop” called “About The Coffee” and an SCA certified training lab called “Workbench Coffee labs”. Tooti oversees each of these operations, still answers the phone, orders the parts and keeps the books in line as well as dispatching and organizing the day to day schedules of each of those techs. Tooti absolutely loves to work behind the scenes at barista competitions. Anything to assist aspiring competitors to do their very best.

 

David Beeman

David has been in the water treatment business forever. He originally founded Cirqua Customized Water 35+ years ago and recently rebranded his company as Cirqua after working as a consultant developing a new line of water filters. David specializes in "coffee water" which is a term he developed early on. Author of the SCA, "Water Quality Handbook", developed coffee water formulation for Starbucks, Peet's and most all other specialized coffee retailers. Developed "formulated" water for the enhancement of coffee extraction and scale control.

David lectures worldwide on the proper water for standardized coffee extraction and flavor enhancement and has worked with many Barista's and Cupper competitors for US and world competitions.

With thousands of installations completed worldwide David has an unparalleled experience with every type of water and has encountered every problem imaginable. Being an independent water specialist David represents what works and has experience with nearly every type of water system on the market.

David recently developed a no waste reverse osmosis system, developed the "Easy" line of reverse osmosis systems and formulators.

Brady Butler

Brady Butler is the Field Liaison supporting Dilworth Coffee customers in the Charlotte area. Brady is a member of the SCA's Brew Crew since 2013. He enjoy teaching others about coffee, dialing-in customer's coffee programs, and pursuing optimum balance and delicious coffee.

 

Reiner Stanelle

Reiner Stanelle has been in the water treatment industry for almost 30 years. He worked for Millipore in their Ultrapure Water Division for lab applications as well as for their Micro Electronics Division holding a Global Sales and Support position.  Joining Culligan Europe, Mr. Stanelle was responsible for the sales of their industrial water treatment systems in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In his position with Everpure, historically a part of Culligan, Mr. Stanelle was responsible for the sales of Everpure Food Service Products in Central Europe, Eastern and Southern European Countries. He was also holding the position of Key Account Manager for Coca Cola and McDonalds in Europe and the Middle East.  Mr. Stanelle’s dream came true when he was offered a position with Best Water Technology (BWT) to live and work in America.  The challenge from BWT for Mr. Stanelle was to open their office in America and take over as Sales Director for North America.
