Nominations Now Open in the 2022 CTG Leadership Council Election!

Dear Coffee Technicians Guild members and community,

WE WANT YOU!

Each year the leadership of the CTG finds itself with a few Leadership Council members nearing the end of their term. Our process is to nominate new potential leaders and hold an election where our membership votes. You may think you are not qualified or don’t have anything to offer to the CTG. That's exactly how some of us felt too, until someone asked us, and then suddenly, we realized we had ideas and passions that can offer something to this guild. Each member of the guild has intrinsic value that they can offer that we can learn from and use this information to make a better, stronger guild. Consider nominating yourself or someone you know.

This year, the CTG is looking for a diverse group of 5 members to join the 12-member Leadership Council. LC members are members of the Coffee Technicians Guild and are individuals willing to dedicate time to leading our guild into the future. We estimate a monthly contribution of 10 hours per month on average. The two year term served will start February 1, 2023 - January 31, 2025.

A Leadership Council member’s role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving a term of two (2) years as a Leadership Council Member.

  • Putting own ideas for activities and events forward via a project-style working culture, this includes presenting ideas, gaining support from the wider CTGLC, and realizing the project using common project managing tools.

  • Being very well connected with the technicians community and being passionate about sharing knowledge and insights.

  • Communicating with the LC group through monthly conference calls and two larger (potentially) in-person meetings per year.

  • Attend the Specialty Coffee Expo and/or World of Coffee event, and serve as a representative of the CTG Leadership Council.

Are you willing to take on the challenge of becoming a part of the next Leadership Council? Know someone that would be a good fit for the role? Nominate yourself or someone else via the form linked below.

Nominations will be accepted from September 19 to October 3, 2022.

When nominations close on October 3, nominees will be reviewed by the CTG Election Committee chaired by me, Immediate Past Chair Richard Muhl, with the support of the two CTGLC members and two CTG Members at large.

The Election Committee will carefully review each nomination, and the committee members will carry out interviews. A slate of nominees will be selected from the nominee pool and will be announced on November 1. Email ballots will be sent to all CTG members on November 21, and the new Leadership Council members will be announced on December 9.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE 2021 CTG ELECTION?

This election is your opportunity to make your voice heard by voting for the volunteer committee leading the CTG globally. Only CTG members with a valid SCA membership are eligible to vote.  Both individual members and Company Individual Members (individuals whose membership is connected to their company membership) may participate in this election.
