This month we had the first All Guilds Summit in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Representatives from the Coffee Technicians Guild were there (pictured above), along with those from the Barista Guild and the Coffee Roasters Guild. I love a good story and got plenty from our partners, got into several animated discussions about three-phase versus single-phase with two Coffee Roasters Guild members, and listened to a great proposal from David Meyers of Mighty Good Coffee to have an all-guild triathlon.

Events are going strong and we have several planned for the upcoming year. Recently at Roos Roast in Michigan we had a co-event with the Coffee Roasters Guild entitled Top Ten Signs Machine Needs to be Repaired.

We also had a milestone event, our first Gearhead Event in Australia. It was hosted By Richard Muhl of Five Senses Coffee. We will have a report on how that event went soon.

Switching gears to what’s coming up, if you’re attending the Specialty Coffee Expo next month in Boston, be sure to join the annual Coffee Technicians Guild Meeting and Mixer! There will be a short presentation from the current leadership about past achievements, current activities and future plans - including the anticipated Coffee Technicians Skills Program, and plenty of time to meet expert and new technicians from our global community. Open to all who are interested!

The Meeting and Mixer will be held on Friday, April 15th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in Ballroom East at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Be sure also to stop by the CTG booth on the show floor (Booth #1001)! Get to meet members of the guild and Leadership Council. There will be raffles for prizes and free memberships everyday.

Thanks,

Hylan
