2020 Year in Review
/The world faced many unanticipated challenges in 2020. When plans were cancelled and we all moved indoors, when we worried for the safety of our community and our livelihoods, it was our task as a Guild to step up. From facilitating accessible conversations about the impact of COVID-19, to creating engaging online content that maybe helped us retain a bit of normalcy, the CTG is happy to be here for you in these times of uncertainty.
Our 2020 Year in Review is a look back on all we got up to — and went through — together as a Guild in one of the most memorable years of our lifetimes.

A message from HYLAN JOSEPH
It has been a tremendous honor to serve and lead the Coffee Technicians Guild as chair for 2020. The Guild was able to navigate through one of the most erratic and tumultuous years in recent history. The outbreak of COVID-19 created major disruptions for the Coffee Technicians Guild and the Specialty Coffee Association and the world.
We now operate in a new and challenging environment. It is times like these that remind me how resilient, purposeful and hopeful people can be when we come together and support each other.
The Guild had a big year. We adapted quickly to the loss of face to face events by pivoting our mandate to a digital platform. We did this to keep our members and the public at large engaged. We got a lot done for 2020 and look to getting even more done for 2021 that includes planning face-to-face events when we are able to.
None of this could have been accomplished without the guidance, input and contributions from our board, our volunteers and members. I owe a debt of thanks to these kind people. I am proud to have been able to work within these groups to try and continually improve the guild. They helped move to forward the Coffee Technicians Guild by creating greater support networks and education opportunities for the tech community.
Best of luck in 2021!
Hylan Joseph, 2020 Chair
