We consider sustainability to be a key issue for the future that is associated with responsibility and the conservation of resources. Our motto “For You and Planet Blue” is reflected in our product concepts and our recycling process. The recycling program is already free-of-charge and easy to implement for our customers and partners in many countries: they simply collect their worn-out filter cartridges in a box provided by us and we take care of the rest. Up to 99% of a typical inline filter cartridge goes into our recycling process.
The BWT Recycling Concept
In 2018, we initiated our own recycling process for wear-out filter cartridges, for which we use the world’s most modern recycling system for filter cartridges at the BWT headquarters in Austria. Our goal is to continuously develop our sustainability concept and to expand it internationally, for example with additional local treatment systems to supplement the central recycling location.
In the recycling process, the worn-out filter cartridges are separated into their components in several steps. In this way, we get back all the reusable materials in a form that is largely unmixed and free from contamination and can then be fed back into the general cycle of materials.
Up to 99% of the materials retrieved in this way can be fed into our recycling process, enabling us to avoid large quantities of plastic waste.
