A Message to the Community from Past Chair Richard Muhl

As I take a moment to think back over my last 12 months as the Chair of the Guild, the first thing that comes to mind is what an honor it’s been leading such an amazing and dedicated group of people. Our board members and their teams of volunteers have worked very hard all year to keep the ship, not just afloat, but steaming confidently forward. Certainly, the difficult world situation that we faced at the beginning of 2021 is well and truly still with us yet here we all are, moving ahead and making plans for the future of the Guild and the coffee tech community.

Like a number of others I'm sure, I do admit to being a little disappointed that we didn’t get the opportunity to meet face-to-face at one of our awesome Coffee Tech Summits or industry trade shows. The regular catching up with industry friends and meeting new likeminded technical people is one of the things I most enjoy about the whole world of coffee.

At our next leadership team meeting, Vice Chair Simon Green from the UK will move into the role of Chair, and we will welcome a number of new board members. One of my last actions as CTG Chair then is to say thank you and well done to the many people who have generously given up their valuable time and energy for the CTG and the coffee technician community over the past 12 months. Without you there is no CTG and your efforts are hugely appreciated.

All the best for the coming year,

Richard Muhl
