The Coffee Technicians Guild is working hard to bring value to its members. We are happy to be able to provide you with the following updates from the events and education committees. Also, have a look at Hylan’s update from the membership committee in this month’s newsletter.

The Events Committee is already working on the next CTG Summit in Los Angeles, CA. They are focusing on being able to provide technicians with practical takeaways that will excite attendees because of how much relevant coffee technician knowledge they have gained. These takeaways are centered around making a tech’s job easier, faster and more effective both in the field and in the shop. More exciting details are sure to be released as we get closer to the Summit!

The Education Committee is very excited to share where they stand on CTG curriculum development. Huge steps were taken at the World of Coffee event in Amsterdam and they are several steps closer to releasing the curriculum to the rest of the guild! They are focusing on the Foundation Level courses, distilling what skills all technicians must have to be effective into teachable classes. At the moment, the Education Committee is looking at coffee technician Coffee Skills Program (CSP) courses taking two days to complete given the amount of knowledge that must be relayed to their students. This is a change from the other SCA guild classes, which traditionally last one day each.

The Education Committee is also excited to be able to release details on the Foundation Level requirements and classes in November of 2018! The details of the Intermediate Level are expected to be released by the end of 2018, and the final Professional Level will be released in spring of 2019. This is important news for our organization as it could mean that CTG courses are available by the time we all meet up in Boston for the next Specialty Coffee Expo!

We thank you for your continued support and are excited to be able to celebrate and educate Coffee Technicians from around the globe!

As always, if you have suggestions for how CTG can add value to your membership, please reach out using the Contact Us page, or contacting the Executive Council on their page.
