Reflections from World of Coffee Amsterdam
/By Gene Lemos, Nouva Ricambi USA
World of Coffee took place in Amsterdam on June 20-23, 2018.
This event also housed the 2018 World Barista Championship. Congratulations to Agnieszka Rojewska on her exceptional barista skills. She took home the grand prize as the number one barista in the world. There were many other exceptional baristas in attendance and we are proud to see the level of knowledge and expertise that has been brought to coffee’s largest stage.
The Coffee Technicians Guild booth drew substantial attention as people were curious to learn more about the Technicians Guild and learn how they could join and contribute. The booth was manned by Jason Jones of Astoria Espresso Machines, Maria Cleveland of Urnex Brands and Gene Lemos of Nuova Ricambi USA. The turn out on the weekend was a pleasant surprise and above and beyond our expectations.
One exhibit that caught my attention was the new Slim Jim and the Slim Jim Lever by Kees Van Der Westen. The lever machine uses a new locking group technology to execute a preinfusion unlike any other machine on the market. For those with an eye on the new players in the market, this is a machine to watch. There were numerous other exciting developments as well. This speaks as to the high levels of foot traffic through the show every day.
Please join us on September 8th and 9th for the next CTG event, the Coffee Technicians Guild Summit in Los Angeles, CA.
