Meet Scott Manley, Technical Support Supervisor at La Marzocco USA
I got interested in coffee at an early age. I grew up in Seattle in the 1980’s coffee boom. Espresso and grunge music was everywhere. My first coffee job was as a barista at a local Italian restaurant and deli in HS, rockin a 2 group semi-auto Faema. I purchased my first home espresso machine, a Gaggia, before my first car. Not too many people were servicing home espresso machines back then, so I started Cascade Espresso Repair. Eventually I started working on more and more commercial machines. I was also working several part time jobs; one for a local roaster, also as a computer network technician, and a clerk at a toy store. I was also mountain biking all the time. The local roaster I was working for, got super big, becoming an international chain of coffee shops, and I went in full time as equipment technician with their Store Development division. My position advanced to senior equipment tech, with responsibilities for 70+ stores across three states. This is where I got to learn a bunch about water filtration as all my stores had water issues. In 2010, the large roaster/coffee chain and I parted ways. After a brief time as a construction manager I went to work for a friend at Ecowater Systems to start and grow a service team to repair coffee equipment and water filtration for specialty coffee. We started with 3 employees and grew the business to over 25 in a couple of years. I focused on training field technicians and water quality management. In 2016, after several years of conversations, I finally landed at La Marzocco as the in house water quality specialist, where I have been ever since. I love what I do every day.
